Nothing loads from a third party until you choose. Decline analytics and this site sets no cookies at all. Accept and it loads Google Analytics, and nothing else. No advertising pixels, no cross-site tracking, either way.

Who we are

What this site collects
Almost nothing.
- No cookies unless you accept them. On your first visit you are asked once. Decline, and no cookies are set and no Google script is loaded. Accept, and Google Analytics loads with IP anonymization on. You can change your mind at any time using the cookie choices link in the footer.
- Your theme choice. Light or dark is kept in local storage on your own device. It is not a cookie, it never leaves your machine, and we never see it. Your analytics answer is stored the same way.
- Aggregate page counts. The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which is cookieless, sets nothing in your browser, and does not build a profile of you or follow you to other sites. It tells us how many people opened a page and roughly where in the world they were. It does not tell us who you are, and it runs whether or not you accept analytics because it collects nothing personal.
- Server logs. Our host records standard request logs, including IP address, for security and to keep the site running. These are held by the host and are not used to identify readers.
What this site does not do
- No advertising, no ad networks, no retargeting pixels.
- No analytics of any kind before you have been asked.
- No social media trackers or embedded share widgets.
- No fingerprinting, no session recording, no heatmaps.
- No selling, renting or sharing of anything about you.
If you email us
If you contact us, we keep your message and your address for as long as it takes to deal with it and to hold a record of the exchange. We use it to reply and for nothing else. Ask us to delete it and we will, and we will tell you when it is done.
If you apply to write for us
The Write for us form sends what you type straight into a private issue tracker we use to work through applications. It is not stored on this website and it does not go onto any mailing list. We keep an application for two years so we have a record of the exchange, and we delete it sooner if you ask.
The first-reader list
If you join the list on the free copies page, we hold your email address and, if you gave it, the exam you are sitting. It goes into the same private issue tracker as author applications rather than a marketing platform. We use it to send you the free review copy and to tell you when a later title is ready. Nothing else. Ask to come off and you come off immediately, without being asked why.

If we add a processor, for example an email service when the reader list opens, this table is updated before it goes live.
Links out
We link to exam boards, retailers and our sibling imprints. Once you follow a link you are on someone else's site under their privacy policy, not this one. Amazon links on this site may carry an affiliate tag, which pays us a small commission at no extra cost to you and tells Amazon the click came from here.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU you have rights over your personal data, including access, correction, deletion and objection. How to use them is on the GDPR page. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this notice changes, the date at the top changes with it. We do not quietly revise it.
