What does 'finished' mean here?

Written, fact-checked, typeset and built. The ebook validates clean and the print interior is laid out at 6x9 with the fonts embedded. It has not been uploaded to any store.

Why are the unwritten books shown at all?

So you can see what is coming and tell us if we have the order wrong. A placeholder is honest about what exists. A mocked-up cover for an unwritten book is not.

How do I get one free?

Join the first-reader list. Finished books go to that list before they go on sale, in exchange for an honest review if the book earns one.

How these get written

Source first, then the book.

A title does not get scheduled until we hold the documents it would have to be written from. That is why the ISO guides are still marked as planned: we have the titles, scopes and publication dates of those standards, and not a word of their clause text. Writing that book now would mean writing it from other people's summaries, which is the thing this imprint exists not to do.

It is also why the AI governance books came first. The Official Journal text of the AI Act, the GDPR, NIST AI 100-1 and the exam board's own body of knowledge and candidate handbook are all public, and all of them were read in full before a chapter was drafted.
