Questions readers ask about the PMP Practice Questions

Which exam are these for?

PMI's Project Management Professional exam. This is a PMP project management professional practice exam set written to the Exam Content Outline for the July 2026 exam, revised 11 August 2026.

Is this a PMP practice exam 2026 candidates can use?

Yes. It follows the July 2026 outline. The edition and the date it was checked are on the copyright page, so you can tell when PMI has revised the outline.

How are the answers explained?

Every question carries a rationale of 60 to 120 words: why the right answer is right, why each wrong option fails, and what decides it. The wrong options are written to be the ones a candidate who half knows the material would pick.

How should I use a PMP test book like this?

Sit a domain's questions without looking at the answers, mark them, then read every rationale, including the ones you got right. A right answer for the wrong reason is the thing to catch before the exam does.

Is this a PMP exam simulator?

No. It is a printed set of single-response questions with four options. The real exam also uses multiple response, matching, point and click, graphic-based and case questions, which a page cannot simulate.

How long is the real exam?

180 questions in 240 minutes, with two 10-minute breaks. 170 questions are scored and 10 are unscored pretest items.

What score do I need?

PMI does not publish a pass mark. The score report gives pass or fail with diagnostic results for each domain, so practice by domain and fix the weakest first. You have up to three attempts within a 1-year eligibility period.

Do I qualify to sit the PMP?

With a bachelor's degree, PMI asks for 36 months leading projects in the past 10 years, or 60 months with secondary school, plus at least 35 hours of project management training.

Are these real exam questions?

No. These PMP questions were written for this book from PMI's published outline and the accompanying guide. Nobody here has seen a real exam item.

When should I use them?

After you study each domain, as PMP test prep for that domain. Then sit them again, timed, in the weeks before the exam. At 240 minutes for 180 questions, the real pace is 80 seconds a question.

Is there a book that teaches the material?

Yes. PMP Exam Guide teaches all 26 of PMI's tasks in 12 chapters, and these questions are keyed to what it teaches.

What is it written from?

the exam board's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. the exam board does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of the exam board?

It has no affiliation with the exam board, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either.
