Questions readers ask about the CIPP/E Exam Guide

Which exam is this CIPP/E study guide for?

The IAPP Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe exam, known as CIPP/E.

Is this CIPP study guide 2026 edition current?

Yes. It covers version 1.3.3, effective 1 September 2025. The IAPP reviews it every year and gives at least 90 days' notice of changes. If the IAPP shows a newer version, this edition is out of date.

How is the IAPP CIPP/E exam weighted?

By item ranges per domain: Introduction to European Data Protection 7 to 13, European Data Protection Law and Regulation 18 to 28, European Data Processing 13 to 21, Scope and Accountability 8 to 18, Compliance 8 to 16.

How many questions are there, and how long is it?

90 multiple-choice questions in 2.5 hours, with an optional 15-minute break, according to the IAPP's exam store page.

What do the questions look like?

Multiple choice, with one or more correct answers, and the question tells you when there is more than one. Some follow a scenario. Halfway through you are offered a 15-minute break, and you cannot go back to the first half.

Do I need a course for CIPP/E prep?

No course appears in the handbook's steps: you buy the exam in the IAPP store and schedule it with Pearson VUE. The IAPP says to judge readiness by your grasp of every Body of Knowledge topic, not by finishing any training.

Can I sit it from home, and can I bring this book?

Yes to home, through OnVUE remote proctoring, or at a test center. No to the book: test centers admit no reading material, and remote candidates photograph the room so it can be checked for study materials.

Is this a GDPR book or an exam book?

An exam book. Data subject rights, at 8 to 12 items, gets a long chapter. The history of European data protection, at 1 to 3, gets a short one. The GDPR is quoted directly, and every quotation names its article or recital.

How is this different from CIPP/E Practice Questions?

This book teaches the 18 competencies. The companion gives you 201 questions weighted to the same item ranges, with a rationale that says why each wrong option fails.

Is CIPP/E Exam Guide on sale yet?

Yes. It is on sale on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

How long is it?

18 chapters, 483 pages. Paperback and Kindle.

Who is it for?

Anyone preparing for the examination it covers, and the trainers and librarians supporting them. It assumes you are a working professional paying for the exam yourself and studying in the evenings.

What is it written from?

the IAPP's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. the IAPP does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of the IAPP?

Yes, and that cuts both ways. Credential Press is an imprint of Verity AI Ltd. It has no affiliation with the IAPP, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either. Trademarks are used only to identify the examination the book prepares you for.

Are these real exam questions?

No. Every question was written for this book from the published blueprint and the published sources. Anyone selling you real exam content either obtained it without permission or does not have it.

What happens if you get something wrong?

Send the chapter, the edition date and the source that contradicts us to hello@credentialpress.com. Confirmed corrections go into the next revision and the edition date moves forward, so readers can tell which one they have.

Can trainers, teams and libraries buy copies?

Yes, through Amazon: the book page links to its Amazon listing. We do not sell direct, offer bulk discounts or send free desk copies. Individual readers can ask for a free reader copy on the free copies page; we ask once for an honest review, and nothing depends on it. Buying for a team? See credentialpress.com/teams.

I searched for 'cipp/e' and found this. Is it the right book?

It is the Credential Press title for that exam. Read the extent and the sources above and decide: this imprint would rather you bought nothing than bought the wrong thing.
