Questions readers ask about the ISO 27701 Lead Implementer Exam Guide

Is it current with the PECB ISO 27701 Lead Implementer exam?

Yes. It is written to Candidate Handbook version 1.5 for the PECB Certified ISO/IEC 27701 Lead Implementer exam.

How are the 80 questions split?

PIMS principles and concepts 8, initiating the implementation 7, planning 15, implementing the PIMS 23, monitoring and measurement 12, continual improvement 8, preparing for the certification audit 7.

Is the exam multiple choice?

Yes. 80 questions, each with three options, some stand-alone and some built on a scenario. PECB's ISO 27001 Lead Implementer exam now uses the same format, with 80 questions too.

Can I take the standard into the exam?

Yes. It is open book: a hard copy of ISO/IEC 27701, training course materials and your notes from the course. The standard is sold rather than published, so buy your own copy.

Does it cover PIMS implementation for controllers and processors?

Yes. Planning asks you to judge whether an organization is a PII controller, a PII processor or both, and the implementation chapters take the controls for each.

Does it cover ISO 27701 and GDPR terms?

Yes. Domain 1 asks you to explain the differences in terminology between ISO/IEC 27701 and GDPR, and Chapter 1 teaches them.

Do I need PECB's training course?

No. PECB lists the Lead exam at $1,000 without training, plus $500 to apply for certification. A partner course includes the first attempt, one free retake, the application fee and the first year's maintenance fee.

Can I sit the exam from home?

Yes, through the PECB Exams app with a remote invigilator on camera, and the result arrives the moment you finish. Or on paper through a PECB partner.

Does passing make me a Lead Implementer?

The credential asks for five years of work, two in privacy information management, and 300 hours of project activities. With the exam alone, PECB offers Provisional Implementer.

Are there real exam questions in it?

No. The self-tests are the book's own short-answer questions.

Is ISO 27701 Lead Implementer Exam Guide on sale yet?

Yes. It is on sale on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

How long is it?

11 chapters, 372 pages. Paperback and Kindle.

Who is it for?

Anyone preparing for the examination it covers, and the trainers and librarians supporting them. It assumes you are a working professional paying for the exam yourself and studying in the evenings.

What is it written from?

PECB's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. PECB does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of PECB?

Yes, and that cuts both ways. Credential Press is an imprint of Verity AI Ltd. It has no affiliation with PECB, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either. Trademarks are used only to identify the examination the book prepares you for.

What happens if you get something wrong?

Send the chapter, the edition date and the source that contradicts us to hello@credentialpress.com. Confirmed corrections go into the next revision and the edition date moves forward, so readers can tell which one they have.

Can trainers, teams and libraries buy copies?

Yes, through Amazon: the book page links to its Amazon listing. We do not sell direct, offer bulk discounts or send free desk copies. Individual readers can ask for a free reader copy on the free copies page; we ask once for an honest review, and nothing depends on it. Buying for a team? See credentialpress.com/teams.
