Questions readers ask about the ISO 22301 Lead Implementer Exam Guide

Is this current for the PECB ISO 22301 Lead Implementer exam?

Yes, written to PECB's Candidate Handbook version 1.5. Every chapter maps to one of PECB's 7 competency domains of the business continuity management system.

How are the 80 questions split?

Principles and concepts of a BCMS 8, BCMS requirements 7, planning 18, implementation 18, monitoring and measurement 12, continual improvement 10, preparing for the certification audit 7.

How do the questions work?

Each has one correct option and two distractors. Some stand alone. Others follow a scenario you read once and then answer five questions about.

Can I take ISO 22301 into the exam?

It is open book. You may bring a hard copy of ISO 22301, your training course materials and your personal course notes. The standard is sold rather than published, so buy your own copy. This book contains no clause text.

Does it cover business impact analysis and the business continuity plan?

Yes. Conducting a business impact analysis and presenting the report open the implementation domain, 18 questions. Designing the business continuity plan, incident management, crisis management and exercises follow, across three chapters.

Will it help with a real BCMS implementation?

It teaches the competencies PECB tests, from planning the project to readiness for the certification audit. It is study material. It gives no certification advice and does not replace the standard.

Do I need PECB's training course?

No. PECB lists the Lead exam at $1,000 and the certification application at $500. A PECB partner course, taught, eLearning or self-study, includes the first attempt, one free retake, the application fee and the first year's maintenance fee.

English is not my first language. Do I get extra time?

Ask on the day and PECB can give 30 extra minutes on a Lead exam.

Does passing make me a Lead Implementer?

The credential asks for five years of work, two in business continuity management, and 300 hours of project activities. With the exam alone, PECB offers Provisional Implementer.

Are there practice questions inside?

Only short-answer self-tests, written for this book. The companion book has 212 questions in the exam's three-option format.

Is ISO 22301 Lead Implementer Exam Guide on sale yet?

Yes. It is on sale on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

How long is it?

13 chapters, 378 pages. Paperback and Kindle.

Who is it for?

Anyone preparing for the examination it covers, and the trainers and librarians supporting them. It assumes you are a working professional paying for the exam yourself and studying in the evenings.

What is it written from?

PECB's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. PECB does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of PECB?

Yes, and that cuts both ways. Credential Press is an imprint of Verity AI Ltd. It has no affiliation with PECB, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either. Trademarks are used only to identify the examination the book prepares you for.

What happens if you get something wrong?

Send the chapter, the edition date and the source that contradicts us to hello@credentialpress.com. Confirmed corrections go into the next revision and the edition date moves forward, so readers can tell which one they have.

Can trainers, teams and libraries buy copies?

Yes, through Amazon: the book page links to its Amazon listing. We do not sell direct, offer bulk discounts or send free desk copies. Individual readers can ask for a free reader copy on the free copies page; we ask once for an honest review, and nothing depends on it. Buying for a team? See credentialpress.com/teams.
