Questions readers ask about the ISO 9001 Lead Implementer Exam Guide

Which exam is this for?

The PECB ISO 9001 Lead Implementer exam, to Candidate Handbook version 1.6, and no other. BSI and CQI/IRCA run their own exams, with their own syllabuses.

How does the PECB exam weight ISO 9001 implementation?

Fundamental principles 11 questions, initiating the implementation 6, planning the implementation 17, implementing 12, monitoring and measurement 12, continual improvement 12, preparing for the certification audit 10. Planning carries the most.

Is it multiple choice?

Yes. PECB's English Lead exam is 80 multiple-choice questions in three hours. Each has one correct option and two distractors, and some follow a scenario you answer five questions about.

Which edition does it teach: is it an ISO 9001 2015 book?

Yes. It teaches ISO 9001:2015 from context to improvement, including what that edition removed, such as the management representative and the separate preventive action clause.

Does this ISO 9001 book include the standard?

No. The exam is open book: a hard copy of ISO 9001, your training course materials and your course notes. The standard is sold rather than published, so buy your own copy. This book contains no clause text.

Do I need PECB's training course?

No. PECB lists the Lead exam at $1,000 and the certification application at $500. A partner course includes the first attempt, one free retake, the application fee and the first year's maintenance fee.

Can I sit it from home?

Yes, remotely through the PECB Exams app, or on paper through the partner that ran your course.

English is not my first language. Do I get extra time?

PECB can give 30 extra minutes on a Lead exam to candidates sitting it in a language that is not their own.

Is there a practice book?

Yes. ISO 9001 Lead Implementer Practice Exams gives you three complete 80-question papers, with a rationale for every option.

Is this about getting my quality management system certified?

Indirectly. The credential is yours, personally. The full Lead Implementer credential asks for five years of experience, two of them in quality management, and 300 hours of project activities. The last chapter covers preparing an organization for its certification audit.

Is ISO 9001 Lead Implementer Exam Guide on sale yet?

Yes. It is on sale on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

How long is it?

15 chapters, 440 pages. Paperback and Kindle.

Who is it for?

Anyone preparing for the examination it covers, and the trainers and librarians supporting them. It assumes you are a working professional paying for the exam yourself and studying in the evenings.

What is it written from?

PECB's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. PECB does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of PECB?

Yes, and that cuts both ways. Credential Press is an imprint of Verity AI Ltd. It has no affiliation with PECB, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either. Trademarks are used only to identify the examination the book prepares you for.

Are these real exam questions?

No. Every question was written for this book from the published blueprint and the published sources. Anyone selling you real exam content either obtained it without permission or does not have it.

What happens if you get something wrong?

Send the chapter, the edition date and the source that contradicts us to hello@credentialpress.com. Confirmed corrections go into the next revision and the edition date moves forward, so readers can tell which one they have.

Can trainers, teams and libraries buy copies?

Yes, through Amazon: the book page links to its Amazon listing. We do not sell direct, offer bulk discounts or send free desk copies. Individual readers can ask for a free reader copy on the free copies page; we ask once for an honest review, and nothing depends on it. Buying for a team? See credentialpress.com/teams.
