Questions readers ask about the ISO 27001 Lead Auditor Practice Exams

Is it current with the 2026 exam?

Yes. It follows PECB's ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Auditor Candidate Handbook version 1.5 and its multiple-choice exam: 80 questions, three options each, 56 correct to pass.

How closely do the papers match the ISO 27001 Lead Auditor exam?

Same length, same domain split: ISMS principles 13, ISMS requirements 8, audit concepts 14, preparing an audit 12, conducting it 18, closing it 7, managing a program 8. Conducting the audit carries the most.

Where do ISO audit answers lose points?

On the wrong options. Each is something a candidate who half knows the material would pick, so read the rationale for every question, including the ones you got right.

Are these ISO 27001 practice questions from the real exam?

No. Every question was written for this book from PECB's published Candidate Handbook. PECB treats any disclosure of its exam content as a breach of its Code of Ethics.

When should I sit each ISO 27001 mock exam?

Paper 1 cold, before you finish studying, to find the domains you cannot yet answer under time pressure. Paper 2 after the guide, timed, in one three-hour sitting. Paper 3 the week before, marked strictly.

Do I need the standard to answer these?

No question turns on a clause number or a control identifier. The real exam is open book, and you may bring a hard copy of ISO/IEC 27001. It is sold rather than published, so you will need your own copy.

What does the real exam cost without a course?

PECB lists the Lead exam at $1,000 and the certification application at $500. A partner course includes the first attempt and one free retake.

Can I sit the real exam from home?

Yes, remotely through the PECB Exams app, or on paper through the partner that ran your course.

Do I need audit experience to sit the real exam?

No. The full Lead Auditor credential asks for five years of experience, two in information security management, and 300 hours of audit activities. With the exam alone, PECB offers the Provisional Auditor credential.

Is this an ISO 27001 Lead Auditor study guide?

No, this is the testing half of the pair. ISO 27001 Lead Auditor Exam Guide teaches the same seven domains in 14 chapters.

Is ISO 27001 Lead Auditor Practice Exams on sale yet?

Yes. It is on sale on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

How long is it?

319 pages. Paperback and Kindle.

Who is it for?

Anyone preparing for the examination it covers, and the trainers and librarians supporting them. It assumes you are a working professional paying for the exam yourself and studying in the evenings.

What is it written from?

PECB's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. PECB does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of PECB?

Yes, and that cuts both ways. Credential Press is an imprint of Verity AI Ltd. It has no affiliation with PECB, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either. Trademarks are used only to identify the examination the book prepares you for.

What happens if you get something wrong?

Send the chapter, the edition date and the source that contradicts us to hello@credentialpress.com. Confirmed corrections go into the next revision and the edition date moves forward, so readers can tell which one they have.

Can trainers, teams and libraries buy copies?

Yes, through Amazon: the book page links to its Amazon listing. We do not sell direct, offer bulk discounts or send free desk copies. Individual readers can ask for a free reader copy on the free copies page; we ask once for an honest review, and nothing depends on it. Buying for a team? See credentialpress.com/teams.

I searched for 'iso 27001 lead auditor' and found this. Is it the right book?

It is the Credential Press title for that exam. Read the extent and the sources above and decide: this imprint would rather you bought nothing than bought the wrong thing.
