Questions readers ask about the ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Exam Guide

Is it current with the exam?

It follows Candidate Handbook version 4.5 and PECB's essay format, not the English multiple-choice exam. Check which you will sit.

How is the PECB ISO 9001 Lead Auditor exam scored?

In PECB's essay format, 12 questions carry 75 points and 70% passes, with three questions worth 10 points each. The English exam is now 80 multiple-choice questions, and 70% still passes.

Does it include an ISO 9001 audit checklist?

Not a ready-made one. PECB tests the advantages and disadvantages of audit checklists, and how to develop working papers and audit test plans. Chapters 6 and 9 teach those.

Where does ISO 19011 come in?

PECB's audit concepts domain tests audit principles as ISO 19011 describes them. ISO 19011 and ISO 9001 are both sold, so the book teaches the principles and reproduces neither.

What can I have on the desk in the exam?

It is open book: a hard copy of ISO 9001, your training course materials, your personal notes from the course and a hard copy dictionary. You will need your own copy of the standard.

Do I need PECB's training course?

No. You may sit the exam without it. PECB lists the Lead exam at $1,000 and a separate $500 application fee for certification.

Can I sit it from home?

Yes, through the PECB Exams application, supervised remotely on camera, or on paper at a partner's location. Essay results take three to eight weeks.

What happens if I fail?

You wait 15 days after the exam date before the first retake, and there is no limit on retakes. A fail comes with a list of the domains where you performed poorly.

What does the Lead Auditor credential ask beyond the exam?

Five years of work experience, two of them in quality management, and 300 hours of audit activities. Pass with no experience and PECB offers the Provisional Auditor credential.

I trained with CQI/IRCA. Is this the right ISO 9001 Lead Auditor exam guide?

No. PECB, BSI and CQI/IRCA each run their own exam, with their own syllabuses, formats and pass marks. This book follows PECB's alone.

Is ISO 9001 Lead Auditor Exam Guide on sale yet?

Yes. It is on sale on Amazon in paperback and Kindle editions.

How long is it?

12 chapters, 404 pages. Paperback and Kindle.

Who is it for?

Anyone preparing for the examination it covers, and the trainers and librarians supporting them. It assumes you are a working professional paying for the exam yourself and studying in the evenings.

What is it written from?

PECB's own published blueprint, and the primary text of the law, standard or framework the exam tests. Not from a summary, not from another preparation book, and not from a model's memory. Each source is listed at the back with the date it was checked.

How is it weighted?

By the exam board's own published blueprint. A domain that carries more of the exam gets more of the book, so you can see where the marks are before deciding where your evenings go.

Will it tell me the pass rate?

No. PECB does not publish one for this exam, and this book states nothing it cannot trace.

Is it a substitute for the standard or the law?

No. Where the exam tests a paid standard, you will need your own licensed copy, and the book says so rather than pretending otherwise. Where the law is public, the book teaches from its own text and cites it.

Is Credential Press independent of PECB?

Yes, and that cuts both ways. Credential Press is an imprint of Verity AI Ltd. It has no affiliation with PECB, no sponsorship from it and no endorsement by it, and it has no inside knowledge of the exam either. Trademarks are used only to identify the examination the book prepares you for.

Are these real exam questions?

No. Every question was written for this book from the published blueprint and the published sources. Anyone selling you real exam content either obtained it without permission or does not have it.

What happens if you get something wrong?

Send the chapter, the edition date and the source that contradicts us to hello@credentialpress.com. Confirmed corrections go into the next revision and the edition date moves forward, so readers can tell which one they have.

Can trainers, teams and libraries buy copies?

Yes, through Amazon: the book page links to its Amazon listing. We do not sell direct, offer bulk discounts or send free desk copies. Individual readers can ask for a free reader copy on the free copies page; we ask once for an honest review, and nothing depends on it. Buying for a team? See credentialpress.com/teams.

I searched for 'iso 9001' and found this. Is it the right book?

It is the Credential Press title for that exam. Read the extent and the sources above and decide: this imprint would rather you bought nothing than bought the wrong thing.
